Dear Friends,
As we’re sure you’re well aware, public gatherings across the country have started to shut down to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 — from Broadway to Disneyland and from OSF to the NBA. And while the decision to cancel or postpone events is a difficult one, it certainly feels like the right thing to do right now to take care of each other.
We have decided to indefinitely postpone our opening night for MAMA MAMA CAN’T YOU SEE.
We are beyond excited to share this project with you. The script is otherworldly, the actors are fearless and generous, and the design team is kicking ass and taking names. We think you’re gonna be blown away by this World Premiere. But we cannot, in good conscience, open a play in the middle of a pandemic. We can’t invite even 40 of you into a small theatre to share this piece with us right now.
To everyone who has already purchased tickets — THANK YOU for being such champions for us, for supporting live theatre in Los Angeles, for helping us develop new and exciting works. We ask that you sit tight while we work towards a new plan/schedule. Once that is in place, we will be reaching out personally to move your tickets to the performance of your choice. We also totally understand that this is a scary, unprecedented time, and if you need us to refund your ticket immediately, please let us know, and we are happy to process that!
To all our fans: C&G is a small nonprofit, relying on the support of our audiences to survive. We’ve been renting rehearsal space, paying artists, and building sets and costumes under the expectation that we would begin to recoup these costs next week when the show opened. This will not be happening now. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation (or donate the cost of your already-purchased ticket) to help us through this difficult time, it would be so greatly appreciated. You can do that by clicking the button below.
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions: [email protected].
We love you dearly. Stay safe, keep making art, and please wash your hands.
Love,
Zach Davidson
