In October 2017, Coin & Ghost hit the stage with our inaugural production, the World Premiere of Cecilia Fairchild‘s "Fortunate Son: A Faust Myth."
The project, directed by C&G Artistic Director Zach Davidson, was a whiskey-soaked exploration of God, loss, and longing.
Today, we offer you a lil’ somethin’ somethin’ to help you get through these quiet summer months: a "Fortunate Son" trailer — just a taste of what we built last Fall.
Faust – Leve Ross
Mephistopheles – Alexander Demers
God – Will Willy Lamar Rothhaar
Gretchen – Elisa Rosin
Valentine – Daniel Stevens
The Witch – Alexander Ellipsis Garland

“You turn older and have this need to go back to war again. Your lifetime has doubled over since the the days you decided it was wrong, it was a waste. You need to go back, for almost the same reasons you set off on this path as a boy at seventeen. Only this time the reason is the pursuit of meaning. This time the stakes are lower. This time no one dies. The old dog walks itself into the woods to brave death on its own…I don’t know, maybe the stakes are the same after all. Maybe we all die.” — @stoshactual … See MoreSee Less
Although we’re still locking down most of our C&G Year Two details, we are MAD EXCITED to announce that the season will include a world premiere co-authored by two of our favorite playwrights — Cecilia Fairchild (who wrote our FAUST piece) and Stan Mayer (Marine Corps Vet and all-around storytelling badass).
In Stan’s own words:
“Cissy and I are finally cooking something up together. We typically stand in solidarity against collaboration, as oftentimes it dilutes, but then again, sometimes it’s precisely what’s needed, beautiful and perfect. Watching our friends create together has taught us as much.
It reminds me of the kind of trust you invest into the person that’s driving you down the mine laden streets of a war zone. You’ve got to remember that the stakes are just as high on both sides of the hummer, you either both die, or you both live. You trust, implicitly, explicitly.
And so, we were absolutely humbled by our theater family @coinandghost when they asked us to write a piece for their 2019 season together. It’s always an enchanting and inspired moment in time as the pages stare back, blank, ready. Stories and life and ideas begin flooding in, the sound of ballpoint on a composition notebook, pressing on plastic keys, putting letters on paper. Bleeding out war stories in black ink.” … See MoreSee Less
